How I Became a Dallas Brand Photographer Helping Small Businesses Shine
How My Entrepreneurial Journey Began
I’m a third-generation entrepreneur. My grandpa started his own business, my parents started theirs, and now I’m continuing the legacy as a small business owner — determined to do BIG things and empower others through brand photography.
But I didn’t always know I would become a Dallas brand photographer. My career started in event planning. I’ve organized everything from weddings and small parties to red-carpet events, TV launches, corporate conferences, and gala dinners. I thrived under pressure and loved the creativity of event production.
Yet, after my son was born in 2019, everything shifted. What once excited me—travel, fancy dinners, late-night happy hours—began to lose its sparkle. I no longer wanted to sacrifice precious moments at home for a demanding career.
Pivoting My Career for Freedom & Family
I felt torn between my career and motherhood. I wanted to be present for my kids’ milestones while still pursuing meaningful work. Saying no to after-hours client events was seen as a lack of commitment, and I realized: I didn’t want to live that way anymore.
I dreamed of working for myself, setting my own schedule, picking up my kids from school, and building something that would serve both my family and others.
In January 2020, I took the leap — I left my job and launched Focused Creative Photography.
(Yes, great timing — right before the world shut down!)
Seeing a Need for Brand Photography in the DFW During the Pandemic
Initially, I offered family and portrait sessions, but quickly recognized a growing need: small businesses suddenly required professional brand photography more than ever.
With everyone pivoting to online marketing, business owners were becoming the face of their brands on platforms like Instagram. They needed consistent, high-quality imagery to maintain their presence, engage their audience, and grow their businesses. But often, they ran out of content, got stuck posting repetitive selfies, or avoided posting altogether.
That’s when I had my lightbulb moment.
What if I could help small businesses build a library of custom brand photos they could easily pull from for their website, social media, and marketing? What if professional photos made content creation easier while actually growing their business?
